ECOSYSTEMIC ANALYSIS

The Ecosystemic Analysis tool is a graphic which displays a brief outline of the ecosystem in which the child live and behaves. It can be used to provide a concrete point of reference for discussion of family history and current efforts to deal with a child problem. Users of this tool should compare and contrast the messages being sent to the children and adults by various people in the ecosystem regarding the diagnosis, cause and solution of the problem. When problems do not resolve quickly, it is usually because adults' do not agree on how to solve the problem or because no one of the adults or children know how to solve the problem. Bringing everyone together in a common diagnosis and treatment allows the problem to be solved. Interactional changes in parent and teacher management of children are the answer to child motivational problems, and most mysterious child problems are motivational, not medical.
